October 2024
This month, our Year 3 and Year 4 football team took part in our Pilgrim Multi Academy Trust competition. We played 8 matches during the morning, winning 7 and drawing 1. Out of the 5 schools, Pilgrim came first! Thank you to all of our supporters who came to cheer us on, for our wonderful children for showing respect and sportsmanship and to St Marks for hosting a fantastic tournament. We can’t wait for next year!

A huge thank you to the PTFA who kindly purchased us a new set of hockey sticks to use as part of our sport of the week equipment!
Friday 26th January
Year 2 had a fantastic treat this afternoon! Roger, a table tennis expert in our local area, came to coach our year 2 pupils. They developed an understanding of how to hold the bat, the rules of the game and how a point is scored. Some of us even got to play a game against Roger!

*PILGRIM DANCE DAY*
Pilgrim had an amazing day today. Every child, from our smallest acorns to our Year 6 class experienced a dance workshop with a professional dance teacher. The teacher inspired us by explaining where she has danced in the world, including in West End musicals and at the Queen's Jubilee celebrations. We explored street dance, learnt different moves and created our own routines!

*SANTA DASH*
The rain did not dampen our Santa Dash Day! We turned it into a Santa Dance day instead! Each class had fun dancing with their parents and teachers whilst also practising some of our fundamental movement skills! Happy Santa Dance day!

Wednesday 27th September - Multi-Academy Trust Football
On Wednesday, a very excited minibus of Pilgrims travelled to Riverside to collect some more members to join our football team. They then travelled to St Marks primary school in Eccles, one of the schools within our trust for the multi-academy trust football competition. Team Pilgrim Riverside listened well to the advice during the morning coaching sessions and worked hard as a team in the matches in the afternoon. We saw some fantastic Pilgrim and Riverside attributes, including resilience, perseverance, sportsmanship and compassion. A fantastic team effort to come 1st - congratulations Team Pilgrim Riverside!

Cobham Hall Cricket Day
Pilgrim travelled to Cobham Hall School to enjoy a day of cricket. Take a look at our team photo below as well as some thoughts from our children about the day!
I found the cricket matches really fun. I love the views of the grounds and the huge trees. I found it really interesting that Cobham Hall had history with the ashes. The schools were really nice and I enjoyed playing against them. Even though I only did three of the four matches, I had an amazing time playing and watching them all. All in all it was an amazing trip and experience that all of us enjoyed.
When I went to the Cobham Hall it was one of the best places I've ever played Cricket in my life and all of the umpires were really kind. I really liked seeing the huge school and all the deer and the facilities were really nice. Another thing that was really cool was that the first ever cricket stadium base is still there. I really like how the first ashes was held at the school.
The place had amazing fields which were beautiful with deers and sheep. They had a gigantic school that looked like a castle with really nice people. There history was super cool where the ashes England team slept and how they burned the stumps of there first cricket match together. I really wish to go again it was a one in a lifetime experience which was the best!
Cobham Hall was amazing. Right from the start I was amazed we saw deer under a tree and sheep in a nearby field. We found a potentially ancient oak tree so we set up camp under it. We started playing at around 10:00 am. We played 2 matches before lunch and two after. The space we had to play in was massive and gorgeous and the history was very interesting. They held the first ashes tournament there and they still have the ashes. I hope that Pilgrim school can go again soon.
MYG Hockey
We had a great day at the Mini Youth Games Hockey tournament today - we won lots of our games but most importantly we won the fair play award! This was voted for by all of the other schools. Well done Team Pilgrim!
