PTFA
At the Pilgrim School we are fortunate to have a PTFA that is and has been for many years an integral part of our school and community. The PTFA has raised thousands of pounds which has been spent on our minibus, books, resources, boards, days out and many other things to enhance the children’s experience and learning.
Our PTFA is about much more than simply fundraising. The PTFA exists to provide closer links between home and school, it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal.
The Pilgrim PTFA is open to everyone associated with our school - parents, teachers, friends, guardians, carers, grandparents, governors etc. The PTFA is an important part of school life. It is a registered charity, and we work on a volunteer basis, giving up our time to help out to benefit our children. We are a small but very active and enthusiastic group of mums, dads, teachers and friends who meet once a month to support the school and our children. The group is quite small and friendly and always welcomes new members. It gives an opportunity to meet other parents and have a ‘say’ into how the money raised is spent. It also allows parents an opportunity to have a say about what events we should organise in the future.
What do we do
The PTFA has two main roles:
Fundraising: we raise money to buy additional resources and equipment needed by the school. All the monies raised are used to provide our children with these extras. To date, our children have benefited from extra computers, books, sports equipment, reading aids, whiteboards, Year 6 leaver gifts and many more. These extras make such a difference to our school.
Fun Activities & Events: we organise events for our children outside the school curriculum, e.g. Chocolate Bingo, Summer Fayre, Christmas Fayre, End of Term Discos, Christmas parties with Santa and much more. We also organise social events for parents, e.g. Quiz Nights, Cheese & Wine Nights. The main purpose of these events is to provide pleasure rather than profit.
There is always something going on at The Pilgrim PTFA. We always try and respond to the children’s requests; it is great to see them having fun at the events or enjoying using a piece of new equipment that the PTFA has donated.
What the PTFA means to our school?
From the Governing Body:
The PTFA is an integral part of the school. Their work in raising funds to improve the education and environment for the children at Pilgrim is magnificent. The Governing Body and the PTFA work together to improve the children's day to day experience at Pilgrim.
From our Headteacher:
The PTFA are an amazing group of people who offer support to the children, school and play an impressive part in our community, the PTFA are essential in our school, raising money for resources and organising events for the children and parents, we are very thankful for such a great PTFA.
From the Children:
Ezra Y1 - The PTFA are important because they help the school.
Phoebe Y2 - The PTFA help us to raise money for our school; we need them to help the teachers be able to raise the money to do the extra things for the children they would like.
Olivia Y4 - If we didn't have the PTFA, we wouldn't have all the fun things we do at school. They help us to celebrate!
Amber Y6 - The PTFA provides funding for us to do extra things in school time, they give us opportunities to socialise.
Bea Y6 - The PTFA is so important because it doesn't make school just a learning environment, it helps to make it an environment where we can have fun.
