The School Council are a really important group of Pilgrim and Riverside students.
Selected by their teachers, teaching assistants and fellow students, they represent their class in guiding and helping our schools as we move forward and grow.
Working together, using our vision and 'Who we are' (as Pilgrim and Riverside), this group of amazing children are proactive and responsible decision-makers.
They positively impact our school life every single day.
Tasks for the academic year ahead include:
- transition meeting with last year's school council ✓
- tell us about yourself ✓
- competition to design new Special Mention certificates
- meet Dee, the school cook ✓
- issue pupil survey to find out how children feel about our schools
- meet PTFA
- meet Governors
Jesus said, “I have come in order that you might have life—life in all its fullness.” (John 10:10)
This is the precept upon which The Pilgrim School is founded. We are committed to enabling each member of our community to flourish.
Following the role model of Christ, we constantly strive to be His pilgrims:
Forever compassionate caring and inclusive · Forever trustworthy
Forever aspiring and adventurous · Forever respectful
Forever thankful · Forever us ...
Why I am part of School Council 2022-2023
November 2022: School Council Meeting with Dee, the school cook
School Council meeting with Dee, the school cook
The children had some amazing questions and were very professional in their approach. Dee wanted to hear their opinions and suggestions and listened to their views carefully. She talked to them about balanced meals and portion control.
New ideas for lunches included:
- wraps as well as sandwiches and baguettes
- fruit flavoured water
- Taster sized portions so children can try new food
- Less potato within the vegetarian meals
Dee even offered to speak to Mrs Mepsted about hosting some cookery classes with the children - this met with a great response!
